Job Overview:
Elliott & Painter CPAs is seeking a detail-oriented and efficient Payroll Specialist to join our team. The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll for our diverse client base. This role requires a strong understanding of payroll practices, tax regulations, and compliance standards. The ideal candidate will be able to manage multiple payroll accounts, provide exceptional client service, and contribute to the overall success of our payroll department.
Key Responsibilities:
Payroll Processing: Accurately process payroll for multiple clients on a weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly basis, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
Tax Compliance: Prepare and submit payroll tax filings, including federal, state, and local taxes, ensuring timely and accurate payment and reporting.
Client Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for payroll-related inquiries from clients, providing exceptional customer service and resolving issues promptly.
Record Maintenance: Maintain accurate payroll records for each client, including earnings, deductions, time worked, and other payroll-related information.
Deductions and Benefits: Manage payroll deductions and contributions, including health insurance, retirement plans, garnishments, and other benefits.
Year-End Processing: Assist with year-end payroll tasks, including the preparation and distribution of W-2s, 1099s, and other required tax documents.
Compliance and Audits: Ensure compliance with all relevant payroll laws and regulations, and assist in payroll audits as needed.
Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes and systems for efficiency and accuracy.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 3-5 years of payroll processing experience, preferably within a public accounting firm or payroll service provider.
Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll laws and tax regulations.
Proficiency in payroll software.
Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on client service.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
