As a Partner and Certified Public Accountant (CPA) with Elliott & Painter, Jay leads the Charleston, SC office. His leadership is pivotal in broadening the firm's reach into the dynamic Lowcountry market, mirroring the services offered by the main Elliott & Painter’s Spartanburg office.
Before joining the Elliott & Painter team, Jay worked for a full-service accounting firm in Charleston for a decade, most recently serving as a manager overseeing that firm’s audit and assurance practice. He also managed a substantial client portfolio with a focus on tax preparation and advisory. During his tenure there, Jay represented the firm through memberships with both the South Carolina Captive Insurance Association (SCCIA) and the Friendly Society.
Originally from Macon, GA, Jay received his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Middle Georgia State University. Jay's dedication to his profession extends beyond the office. He’s an active member and Treasurer for the Historic Rotary Club of Charleston, contributes as a Board Member for the Risk Management Association (RMA) of Charleston, and maintains membership with the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).
Outside the office, Jay enjoys saltwater fishing, golfing, cooking, trips to the beach, and following college football. He and his wife, Amanda, find joy in raising their daughter James Grace.
